Master’s degree in jewish studies with an orientation in didactics

Goal: Preparing experts who possess an integral, critical and academic vision of the development of Jewish civilization in its multiple dimensions. This program also seeks to prepare professionals who specialize in teaching Jewish studies in higher education in a significant manner.

Graduate’s Profile:The graduate is a professional who possesses knowledge about the interactions between Jews and their surrounding societies as well as about the development of Jewish thought, history and literature. This person has the ability to analyze social phenomena and interpret fundamental Jewish texts. He or She will be a professional who is capable of leading his or her profession in accordance with well-known international standards.

Aimed for: Individuals who are interested in teaching Jewish Studies and have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education and/or Human and Social Sciences.

 

Duration:  5 semesters
   7 hours per week for the basic classes plus 6 hours of Hebrew lessons.

Semester Module Goal
1 Planning: Teaching for comprehension

To learn the teaching model for comprehension and apply the principles that lead to a meaningful learning in the development of a teaching unit.

Educational problems in the national context 

To identify the different problems of what is considered to be the “educational crisis” as they relate specifically to the role of the teacher and the adult as an authority figure in the dynamic economical, political and social contexts.

Managing and controlling the climate in the classroom
To understand all the actions and strategies that a teacher must use to manage a group in order to face the problems of discipline and organization in a learning environment that promotes learning.

Evaluation
To design teaching/ learning/ evaluation experiences that meet the needs of students, allow them the acquisition of knowledge and provide the right feedback to find out if the proposed learning achievements were reached.
5 Learning Strategies
To learn various teaching/ learning/ evaluation strategies that motivate and engage students into a meaningful learning.
